A handy addition to your diaper bag collection.
What others are reading:
My favorite mom accessory is the diaper bag. Handbags were always my big fashion splurge, but I’ve found that I no longer have the hands — not to mention physical strength and coordination — to lug around an extra bag (along with a stroller, car seat, carrier, and oh yeah, the baby). So I’m channeling my love for bags to the diaper variety. We have the larger, dad-friendly Skip Hop Messenger, the more stylish I-can’t-believe-it’s-a-diaper-bag Touring Tote from Petunia Pickle Bottom (find great deals on Petunia’s outlet site), and our most recent addition to the collection: The Junior Combination Diaper Bag-n-Belt from Baggino.
As a busy mom (is there any other kind?), I know other moms don’t have time for long-winded narratives, so I’ll give you the CliffsNotes version of why I love this mini diaper bag:
What it is: The smaller, more minimal version of the original Baggino Combination Diaper Bag-n-Belt.
Ideal for: Travel and brief outings. For travel, it fits nicely into larger bags or carry-ons if you’re flying, and has just enough room for the essentials on shorter errands. Also makes a great portable changing station when visiting with Grandma or just in another area of your own house (for those “code brown” quick change emergencies).
Highlights: Switches seamlessly from a shoulder bag to a diaper belt, leaving both hands free to keep baby from rolling off the changing table in the gas station bathroom. And you’re not having to hunch at an odd angle to stop the bag from sliding off your shoulder onto the germy floor. It comes with its own changing pad that folds perfectly into one of the pockets. My favorite feature is the easy-access flap for the wipes.
Lowlights: You have to adjust it to fit your waist, so if you want to share it with Dad, you’ll have to keep tightening and loosening it whenever the bag changes hands. And, while the smaller size serves a purpose, it is specifically useful for shorter outings and travel. This would be an addition to your diaper bag arsenal, not your one and only.
I love my other diaper bags and didn’t think I’d want to add another into the rotation, but this one fills a much-needed niche with its thoughtful, functional yet stylish design. And it comes in a lovely light green shade — perfect for spring and summer!
Baggino also gave me a Learner’s Bib to try out. Jed’s not quite ready for solids yet, but I look forward to taking this bib for a test drive once he’s there, and of course share our experience and feedback with you.
