Booty Gear

The New Year is here and although I don’t make resolutions (never have) a little motivation inspiration is always welcome. In this case, a h-o-t pair of sequin booty shorts from Urban Outfitters. The minute I saw them I knew they were coming home with me. I also knew if I wanted to wear them outside of my own bedroom; I was going to have to get my booty in gear.
Getting to the point. It’s cold out, which means the gym is a necessary evil. But here’s my problem, I’m an outdoors gal and I get distracted and bored easily while climbing the stairs to nowhere. Fortunately, Team Genius (aka Apple) has created a piece of gear that might as well be dipped in gold. It’s my horse of many colors, my mood ring, my never-ending gobstopper. It is constantly changing its tune – from T. Pain to Wilco to Sharon Jones. Yes, I’m referring to the $59 ipod Shuffle.
Now, you may be thinking – really? a shuffle – that’s it? It’s not new to the scene, but with songs changing every three (or so) minutes, it always feels new and exciting to me. I’ve found that I need the inner ear motivation to finish that second set of lunges, final lap around the track, anything related to a pushup. That is unless Cecil, my new gym guru is there, as he’s all the motivation I need. Speaking of the man, I have a Cecil-session tonight, so my next post may be about gear best suited for recovering from an ass-kicking!
Anyhow, getting back to shuffle. It’s small, lightweight and not terribly expensive. If you have doubts – don’t – it’s well worth the investment. Mine is a couple generations old and still as trusty as it was on day one. Not to mention, they come in a variety of cool colors to complement your personal gym aesthetic. So, for those of you that look far more pulled together at the gym than I do – fret not.
It’s a New Year and time to firm up what your mama gave ya/shake a tail feather/drop it like it’s hot! Go out and get a shuffle, pull on those (sequin or not) gym shorts, plug-in and make like Madge (although I would suggest a little less arm definition)!

Hi Laura and Amanda – Yes, a little motivation inspiration is ALWAYS welcome! We hope that you’ll check out our commitment to blogging once every day about the things we are grateful for, and get inspired by our words. We often talk about the music that inspires us. We’d love to connect more!
