Cornell senior Abbey Liebman created a fashion first — a solar powered dress. This light pink dress debuted this past Saturday at the Cornell Design League fashion show.

The panels on the dress are made from ultrathin, flexible solar cells that you can use to charge your cell phone or iPod (there’s a USB charger discreetly hidden at the waist). Talk about function meeting fashion! Is this a glimpse into the fashion future or a blip on the style screen? I’d like to see this evolve into an accessible line of solar-powered activewear. How many times have you run out of power on your iPod while working out? Only time will tell, but we love the concept. Kudos to Abbey and her sunny outlook!
