The Holiday Calendar!!
Christmas season is upon us and in come the requests for parties, special events, class performances, work parties, shopping, gift wrapping, and all the things that go along with the holidays.
How many of us can say, “No, I never get stressed out at during this time of year?” I have all my ducks in a row and am always prepared! You’ve heard it before; “I shop all year round so that at Christmas time I can sit back and enjoy the holidays.” I am not one of those people! Rarely do I have dinner planned for tomorrow night let alone have everything all planned for a weekend event. Mostly, I’m a last minute girl trying to get ahead by just one day! However, there is ONE thing that I do do every week and that’s make my workout schedule! (Presents will get wrapped eventually!)
IN COMES RACHEL’S CALENDAR: Extra large, Office Depot-style tagged with multiple sticky notes. Color Coded: Pink = must bring something for a party, Orange = visitors coming, Yellow Highlight= WORKOUTS. Pencil= classes I must teach!
During the holiday season the one thing I will not drop is my workout. I simply love to sweat and workout- almost daily! You could say that I am addicted to exercise! But, honestly, there are SO many good things that can come from a well planned workout that it’s worth it for me to put the time in. The benefits include a considerable increase in my level of energy, I feel happier and better able to cope with the stress of the season, and I don’t feel that anger that I used to feel if I couldn’t get a workout in.
So, now in the middle of December with Christmas right around the corner, I have a time and place for my workouts 3-5 days per week. And, it’s on that calendar. Nobody is going to take that from me. And, you know, having a lot more muscle on my frame gives me a little wiggle room to enjoy that cookie or eggnog at the holiday party!
How do you maintain your sanity during the holiday season?!
