Sweet and Spicy Brussel Sprouts

What others are reading:

Brussel sprouts have a bad rap. For most people, the thought of eating them conjures images of boiled, soggy, pale green, bitter, baby cabbage heads.  But, brussel sprouts are so much better than that! It’s all about the cooking method. Roasting in the oven or in a pan, instead of boiling, changes the taste and texture completely so that they are drastically more appealing. Follow this easy recipe and you will never scorn the brussel sprout again. I promise.

Ingredients:

1 bag or stem of brussel sprouts (washed, cut in half-peel off brown leaves)

a dash of Sriracha hot sauce (“rooster sauce”)

a good pinch of brown sugar

a good pinch of salt

Directions:

Heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil in a medium fry pan. Add in brussel sprouts and let them cook on each side until they start to brown slightly on the edges. Add in the hot sauce and stir until evenly coated. Add in salt and brown sugar to taste and stir fry for a few seconds. The result is piping hot, sweet and spicy, crunchy brussel sprouts like you’ve never tasted before. Serve with tofu, sweet potato, rice or whatever you like!
